Abstract

RIASSUNTO

Introduzione. Il modello "Human Caring" è una filosofia dell'assistenza che si fonda sulla centralití  della persona e che, pur nascendo in ambito infermieristico, si apre a tutte le professioni di aiuto alla persona. L'infermiere che opera nell'ambito della Salute Mentale, è sottoposto a un notevole carico emotivo e si ritiene che l'introduzione di questo modello possa avere un impatto positivo. Obiettivo. Valutare gli effetti dell'introduzione del modello Human Caring in un Dipartimento di Salute Mentale del Nord Italia, sul miglioramento del benessere degli operatori sanitari e sulla percezione dei pazienti rispetto le cure assistenziali. Metodo. Disegno pre e post intervento con gruppo di controllo in cui le variabili sono misurate prima (T0) e dopo (T1) l'implementazione del modello assistenziale Human Caring. Risultati. Sono stati osservati 80 operatori e 125 utenti. Nel gruppo sperimentale non si sono evidenziate differenze statisticamente significative, tra il pre e il post test sia per quanto riguarda le valutazioni sui pazienti sia per quanto riguarda le valutazioni sugli operatori. Conclusioni. Il modello dello Human Caring non sembra avere un impatto positivo, a breve termine, ne sui pazienti ne sugli operatori. Tuttavia, è ipotizzabile una sua azione protettiva negli operatori che studi futuri dovranno maggiormente esplorare con periodi di follow up maggiori.

ABSTRACT

Introduction. The "Human Caring" model is a philosophy of care based on individual centrality and which, although developed within nursing discipline, could be used by all professionals who take care of individuals. Nurses who work within the field of Mental Health, is subjected to a considerable emotional burden and it is believed that the introduction of this model can have a positive impact. Objective. To evaluate the effects of the introduction of the model Human Caring in the Department of Mental Health Asl Cuneo 1, in order to improve health care professionals' well-being and patients' perception with respect to care and assistance. Method. A pre and post intervention design approach with control group where variables were measured before (T0) and after (T1) the implementation of the model of care Human Caring. Results. 80 health care professionals and 125 clients were observed. Results show a non statistically significant difference between the pre and post test both for health care professionals and clients. Conclusions. Human Caring model does not seem to have a positive impact in the short term. However, it is arguably a protective action for health care professionals that further studies should deeply explore with longer period of follow-up
